After I suggested shallow waters, and it's massive effects of it, I tought, maybe the total differant side, the fast moving, long range area.
But that wouldn't really fit into the zone we are in now. So I tought about an area with many roads, high mountains and many small raider camps.
For some kind of strange magic or laws of phisics, you can get into the zone in 4 differant areas, all leading to another area on the Highlands map. You will be led to your factions base, it won't be so big as your other base.
The area itself won't have real lakes, maybe a river leading from the tops of the high mountains where snow transforms to water. Also maybe waterfalls...
You could get there by maybe doing quests or reaching a certain level, like 5 or 10.
There could also be 2 ways to the area of the highlands, 3 if you count the new zeppelin thingy, 4 if you could make the map of now contain a river that somehow goes to the lake in which you can have a boat sail to.
But to come back to the 2 "normal" ways. I think it would be cool to have a road leading over the mountains in the side of your base and a tunnel on the other side like this:

So the main thing of the Highlands is that its a zone filled with mountains and has a lot of roads, these roads are filled with raiders and bandits that are trying to steal from you.
And maybe, but I don't know if this is a good idea, this area should be ruled by the Phoenix Empire, as it's the highlands. The roads could be from the Phoenix Empire and the raiders and bandits could be the Pandora rebels. But then the tundran warriors march in with an army. Not knowing that its the area of the Phoenix Empire, fights began to appear and pandora rebels raid both of the empires while they are fighting eachother. But why did the Tundran Warriors march in? Well, thats because they were hunted and driven out their other territory by the golden territories and they appear a little later and begin to cause havoc...
