There was a good discussion tonight about the lack of enjoyment being foreseen because players do not have enough gold to upgrade their tanks or to use their tactical weapons.
Now of course it is not in the interest of Splitscreen Studios to give away too many freebies but the consensus of opinion is that you do really need to use gold to "Enjoy" this game.
You don't need a lot of it, just enough to buy the ammo for your lovely Tactical weapon or to upgrade to the next prototype as these are goals that players want to achieve. Yet they are already disheartened that it's gold, gold GOLD.
Some ideas thrown around tonight for obtaining gold were:
The other point of discussion was neon ammo, currently the drop rate is too low. If players were rewarded with gold to buy 7 credits worth of ammo then maybe the drop rate is ok.
The main feeling is that SteelLegions has the potential to be a really good gaming environment but is currently too gold orientated. With a few tweaks like these people would get into the habit of using gold and when they run low would consider "buying" some until their next set of missions or level was complted.
Thoughts?

- Everytime a player attains a new level.
- When a PVP mission is won; maybe rewarding the winners with the amount of gold as there were opponents.
- When a player advances to the next map the gold dropped by Marauders increases by 1 each time.
